The nation's largest outdoor drama, staged at Pioneer Amphitheater (with a 600-foot high cliff as a backdrop) in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, is a vivid spectacle of choreography and song, a work about Panhandle pioneers written by Pulitzer-Prize winner Paul Green and performed by a company of 150. Performances began in 1966 and "Texas" is now the Official Play of the State of Texas. Including western painting by William Moyers. The 1981 Production is dedicated to the playwright--the late Paul Green. ; 18537
