The photographer Johannes Lange from the town of Colditz was ordered to take photographs of any matter relating to escape attempts from Colditz Castle (originally built in 1014, has high, grey granite walls, barred windows, steep roofs, ancient towers, archways and a moat, and held pows during WWII). These photographs were then circulated to prisoner-of-war camps throughout Germany for the guidance and information of Security officials. The escape attempts from Colditz were the most ingenious, the most daring; it made sense that the rest of the country should be alerted to be on its guard against enterprises of equal audacity. Minor wear to DJ. ; B/w photographs; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 127 pages; 24130
