A classic since its first publication in 1947 (his first book at age 70) , this book distills a lifetime of patient observations of the natural world. This reprint contains a new introduction by noted nature writer Rick Bass. The DJ for this book was cut up and scotch taped to book as follows: front and rear flaps taped to front endpapers; sepia-colored photo of Bedichek (rear panel of DJ? ) to rear of last page of text block; spine of DJ to rear free endpaper and front of DJ to rear pastedown. Also taped to end of index is a newspaper clipping. Previous owner of this book thoroughly enjoyed the book, underlining and commenting on the content throughout the book. Postage stamp (15-cent) on half-title page and four more on dedication page. Two maps taped to front pastedown and free endpaper. Brown stain runs along bottom of rear board and on front board, not affecting text block. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 330 pages; 30906
