Inscribed by author. Alamo lore on the battle and the heroes is endless. However, very little has been written about the women who happened to have been there and survived that tragic and historic event. Still less has been published about the lives of the two major contestants in another "battle" that took place years later over the convento/"long barracks" building and the Alamo "Chapel" as it was called then. This area, plus a part of the first floor of the "long barracks" are all that is left today of the Alamo battle site. This is the story of the lives of some of the women who survived the ninety minute "battle of the Alamo" in 1836, and the two women who clashed later in a disagreement over what still remained of the long barracks in 1905. That dispute came to be known as the "second Battle of the Alamo" and it lasted for over five years. Some say it hasn't ended yet.
